Ayo, been a sec since I done one of these lol. I been well, 2024 has been rather rocky for me. Hope y'all been coolin too despite the craziness in the world. This will be longer than my last posts.
I left my part-time retail job back in September on good terms, despite how I was treated. Current job I have right now is a full time warehouse job. I work 44 hour weeks, 68 hours if I'm doing overtime. Early morning stuff (4:30AM - 4PM). Currently deciding between being hired in as an actual employee because I'm a temp for now. I enjoy the work, but if I'm hired in, I'd have to climb up the corporate ladder to get the position I currently have, back (seniority at the company triumphs over all). Which does blow. But I digress. I been busy!! Which leads me into where I been with my art.
Throughout the year I been very on and off with my art. Mainly cause I come home tired after working. I've only just been doodling and posting that stuff on my Bluesky and Twitter. It's also been hard to just lock in because I'd rather use the remaining time after work to talk with friends or play a game. I also just been having thoughts on the future. My personal growth on things, where I wanna take my work, and the life of my grandmother as it is now.
I hadn't made this very publicly known initially, but earlier this year, my grandmother (my dad's mom) was diagnosed with stage 4 muscle bladder cancer. The news of this hit me like an 18 wheeler full of bricks of steel. Thankfully, she's doing better, the cancer is in remission, but in terms of the long haul, my grandma has to live with it for as long as she's around. I'm obviously gonna be there for her and spend as much time I have with her because I owe my grandma so much for all the memories and for things I love today. But I digress. The news of her health definitely hit me hard and did make me stop drawing altogether for a good minute. All those negative emotions ain't good to carry though, I gotta think positive, and given her current state now, things are looking good for her.
I intend to get my drive back and work on some good shit behind the scenes, but the motivation I have tends to flare up and then dissipate cause of my work and life balance as it is right now. As for posting on here, yeah I'll continue lmao. I dunno if you guys would be fine with me lobbing some doodles on here though. Ever since I joined Newgrounds, as cozy as it is for me, I kinda felt like I had an obligation to only post finished pieces which kinda limits what I can post at times because most of my work lately has been traditional doodles or character designs. I guess let me know if y'all would be fine with me posting that stuff.
